Remembering Derrick Bell

Thanks so much brother Boykin for sharing this piece. Brother Bell has got to be one of the most influential yet least known Black leaders we've had. I became familiar with his work quite a long time ago and immediately embraced his "interest convergence" hypothesis as the most plausible and reasonable explanation for how progress has been made on the racial front in this country in the face of continuous and vigorous resistance.

To be honest, I've almost been in a state of denial regarding his passing and have not written anything about it. Your post is the one place I've felt comfortable enough to share my thoughts and respect. Given the limited space available, you did as much justice to his memory as possible, since surely, to fully do it justice would require a tome of that would fill an archive. Cheers, Ron
