Obama Signs Defense Bill Despite 'Serious Reservations'

Tell that to the tro//z to whom torture is "enhanced techniques" - kinda like rape is "surprise sex." They traffic and applaud brutality - like the pepper spraying of the students in the face at UC Davis. They despise the hand of caring and concern - when given to those they despise - but will selfishly take the benefits themselves (e.g., unemployment, social security, health coverage, education, emergency services etc.). I could go on but you get the point :)

The Hurtful Legacy of Herman Cain's "Suspended," "Brother From Another Mother" Presidential Campaign

Dear Readers, HAPPY NEW YEAR! :) When you get the chance, please also see the piece I published back in October, when the Koch-Cain Campaign was on its ascendancy. It's entitled: "Herman 'Bigsby" Cain: "Black White Supremacist." http://open.salon.com/blog/ronrobinson/2011/10/17/herman_bigsby_cain_black_white_supremacist

I believe that we need a healthy dose of outrageous humor at times to make the horror less horrible and more laughable - it's what helps to keep us healthy and motivated to continue the struggle. I include the embedded video of Dave Chappelle's famous skit on "Clayton Bigsby - Black White Supremacist." Enjoy! :)

The Hurtful Legacy of Herman Cain's "Suspended," "Brother From Another Mother" Presidential Campaign

I like your phrase, "conservatives picked Cain out based on some perception that voting “black” is the new black; that it is some kind of trend." You named it right about how they treat Blacks as a kind of "property" that they still own - even if its just on a psychological level. Like Ann Coulter speaking in the nominative plural possessive - "OUR BLACKS" i.e,, the ones pre-approved by Conservatives and that are willing to embrace their "white supremacy" and Confederate consciousness etc.

The Hurtful Legacy of Herman Cain's "Suspended," "Brother From Another Mother" Presidential Campaign

Imagine the nerve of Cain's "team" whose Tweet on the day he announced he was suspending his campaign was:

"Please take a moment to encourage Mr. Cain to stay in the race and fight for freedom!"

That's how the right-wing has hoodwinked America - by misusing language like that - associating themselves with "freedom" when they want to take people's blood and urine if they receive a unemployment or even work for a Government agency, control what happens to a woman's fertilized egg in her own body, the ability use contraception (e.g., their proposed "pill kills" legislation, etc.), what people do in their bedrooms etc. THAT's the mind set of the psychopath.

GOP Candidates Reveal How They Would Enact Pro-Life 'Personhood' Laws

Remember when you first learned about “syllogisms” in school? In case you forgot, here’s what a three-part syllogism looks like when applied to the GOP/TP “personhood” atrocity on both the corporate (e.g., “corporations are persons”) and personal levels (e.g., “the pill kills,” “abortion is murder,” those who support abortion are “baby killers,” etc.):

A) Fertilized human eggs are PERSONS

B) Corporations are PERSONS

C) Ergo, fertilized eggs are corporations, corporations are fertilized eggs, and attempting to end (i.e. abort) corporate distortion of American democracy is attempted murder.

No wonder that to Republicans, the “Norquist Pledge” and their police violence on protests against this distortion, will always supercede their oaths to uphold OUR Constitution.

Touching and feeling things as well as seeing them etc. are really important regarding books, for example. Different kinds of synchronicities occur in libraries regarding sources of information. I can attest to this. My University's library has permitted me to see things and make connections that I never would by merely using its online library services. It's the social component that's missing and it's the social that makes us human and our experiences rewarding - even it's just seeing other people walking around an aisle, or asking them about what they thought about a movie or book you're considering etc. Anyway, anyone who can help give us more of the social, face to face experience, will be doing us a great service that will serve humanity well :)
