DD, I'm disappoint
ed you chose to distort my five-word mini-bio and make "the Jesuit tradition" synonymous with YOUR view of "religion,
" falsely portraying that I "cling" to it. Then, you lecture me on the role of YOUR ex-religio
n and beliefs, which you falsely say I cling to, which were used to justify the very things I wrote against in my comment. And finally, you offer this piece of self-servi
ng advice:
"I was a christian. Studying the bible cured that. If you ever really studied your book, perhaps the scales would fall away from your eyes."
DD, "Jesuit Tradition" refers to the "love of learning" instilled in Jesuit students and the broad range of intellectu
al influences we were exposed to: William F. Buckley to Richard Hofstadter
; sex education to Ayn Rand; Darwin to Malcolm X. By 17, my Jesuit classmates and I had translated the "The Odyssey" from ancient Greek, a life-chagi
ng experience still coursing my veins.
You CHOSE to project your negative experience of religion and distortion
s onto me and undermine my commentary
. I recommend you read my actual views on various negative effects of religion and politics as follows. Thank you:
