Soledad O'Brien, Jodi Kantor Clash Over 'The Obamas' (VIDEO)


To be specific, her mother is what's called, "Afro-Cuba­n," i.e., "Black." When the term "Spanish" is used, especially in reference to people who have Latino ethnicity, it generally means, "White." No need to qualify her beauty by invisibliz­ing her immediate African diasporic ancestry. Neither she nor her mother would ever describe her (the mother) as "Spanish" nor Soledad as "Irish/Spa­nish."
